2022 State Election Campaign Material for Kavel Member Dan Cregan
During the 2022 South Australian state election, I successfully designed printed corflute posters to promote Independent Dan Cregan’s campaign across 20 localities in the Kavel District. I also completed “How To Vote” cards which were handed out on voting days across South Australia. This assisted in maintaining Dan Cregan’s seat in the South Australian House of Assembly.
No Man’s Land Series
No Man’s Land is a comic book series which quite simply began as a collection of character sketches in my university notebook. I then developed No Man’s Land in my fourth and final year of my digital media degree, alongside my exegesis in 2018. Today, No Man’s Land is still in development, and has recently reached it’s second volume in the series. No Man’s Land follows Gwen and her friends as they compete in a roller skating race over an unclaimed territory in the divided town of Windlyn.
Inspired by the quote:
No Man’s Land’s main goal is to focus on the understanding and acceptance of individuals who identify as women who emerge from different backgrounds. I aim to target No Man’s Land to a young adult market and to promote a different perspective on feminism among women.
This project helped develop my skill set in e-commerce, marketing, publishing, illustrating, story boarding and design in both digital and printed formats. Since 2017 I have been able to refine my design and illustration skills within storytelling, including:
Character design
3D modelling (environment design)
Script writing
Storyboarding
Lettering
Digital illustration
Page layout design
This project has also led me to develop my own brand identity by maintaining an online store and multiple social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to help promote my ongoing series. While promoting No Man’s Land online, I’m also dedicated to promoting my series at pop culture conventions and sporting events, to represent a more personable brand.
Product Design
Since publishing the prologue chapter of No Man’s Land in 2018, I have also experimented with designing and printing my own stationary and merchandise to sell at conventions and sporting events alongside my comic series, including:
Art Journals
Notebooks
Lanyards
Stickers
Postcards
Apparel
These projects have helped develop my skills in illustration and design, and have given me experience in layout/textile design and also in printed media.
Illustrations
Since 2015 I have had my artwork and illustrations published by the Flinders University Student magazine; “Empire Times”.
Since commencing my second degree in Communication Design at The University of South Australia in 2023, I have also appeared across multiple issues of Verse Magazine.
I have extensive experience working alongside different editorial teams, while completing various projects including:
Front covers
Back covers
Article illustrations
This has allowed me to improve my skills in:
Time management
Communication
Organisation
